About Motif · Est. 2007
Nineteen years
of honest
guidance.
Motif Education Abroad began in a single room in New Baneshwor with one belief: a student's future is too important to be sold a package. We advise first, and place second — which is why families keep sending us their younger siblings.
Kathmandu, Nepal — where we startedOur Story
Built on referrals,
not advertising.
When we opened in 2007, Nepal's consultancy market was crowded with agents paid per placement. Students were being routed to whichever institution paid the highest commission — often a poor fit, sometimes a dead end.
We chose the harder model. Counseling comes first and it is free. We tell students when a country is wrong for their budget, when a course won't lead to the career they want, and when they should wait a semester and retake an exam rather than settle.
Nineteen years later, more than two-thirds of the students who walk through our door were sent by someone we helped before. That number is the only marketing metric we track.
“We would rather lose a placement than place a student badly. The referral is worth more than the commission.”
Registered & Accredited

What We Stand For
Three non-negotiables.
Everything we do is measured against these. When a decision conflicts with one of them, we take the loss.
Advice before placement
Counseling is free and independent of where you eventually enrol. If the honest answer is "not this year", that is the answer you get.
Full cost transparency
Tuition, living costs, insurance, and our own service fee are written down before you sign anything. No revised figures later.
Support after take-off
Pre-departure briefings, airport contacts, and an alumni group in each city. Our responsibility does not end at visa approval.
The Team
Who you'll sit with.
Every student is assigned one lead counselor who stays with them from first session to departure — never a handover queue.
Managing Director
Eighteen years in international education, British Council certified, has personally advised over 2,000 students on Australian and UK admissions.
Admissions Lead
Manages university applications and offer-letter processing across all six destination countries, with direct partner contacts.
Documentation Lead
Prepares financial evidence, SOPs, and interview coaching. Our 98% approval rate sits with this desk.
Academic Head
Leads a faculty of six instructors for IELTS, PTE, TOEFL, SAT, GRE and GMAT, with weekly mock test analysis.
Come in and
ask us anything.
A first session costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Bring your transcripts and your questions — we will give you a straight assessment.
