Understanding the structure is half the preparation. Every section below is drilled separately in class, then assembled under full test conditions each week.

What score do you need?

Set your target from the programs you actually want, not from an arbitrary number. These are the thresholds that change what is available to you.

PTE 50

Roughly IELTS 6.0. Diplomas, foundation and pathway programs.

PTE 58

Roughly IELTS 6.5. The most common university requirement.

PTE 65

Roughly IELTS 7.0. Nursing, teaching and immigration points.

PTE 79

Roughly IELTS 8.0. Superior English for maximum migration points.

Section Strategy

Where the marks are.

Four things our instructors correct in almost every student. None of them require more English — they require a different approach to the test.

Read Aloud

This single task feeds your Speaking, Reading and Pronunciation scores. Consistent pace beats speed — the algorithm penalises hesitation more than accent.

Repeat Sentence

Worth more than most students realise. Practise holding nine to twelve words in memory; content words matter more than perfect articulation.

Summarise Written Text

One grammatically correct sentence between five and seventy-five words. Learn the sentence pattern once and reuse it every time.

Write from Dictation

The highest scoring-density task in the test. Every correct word earns credit, so write what you catch even if the sentence is incomplete.

Questions We Get

Honest answers.

Is PTE easier than IELTS?

Different, not easier. There is no human examiner and no handwriting, which helps many students, but the integrated scoring means one weak task damages several skill scores. Students with good keyboard skills and clear pronunciation usually score higher on PTE.

Is PTE accepted for Australian and UK visas?

PTE Academic is accepted for Australian student and skilled visas, and by the great majority of universities in all six of our destinations. UK Student Route requirements are institution-specific — we confirm acceptance for your exact university before you book.

How fast can I get my score?

Typically two days, sometimes within forty-eight hours. This is the main reason students switch to PTE when an intake deadline is close.

How much does typing speed matter?

Enough to plan for. The essay and summary tasks are typed under a strict clock, and slow typists lose marks they would have earned on paper. If you type under twenty-five words per minute, we build keyboard practice into your course.
