Test of English as a Foreign Language

TOEFLBuilt for American admissions.

TOEFL iBT is the test American universities know best, and it remains the most familiar English credential to admissions committees across the United States. Academic in register and integrated in design, it rewards students who can take notes and synthesise.

What the exam
actually asks.

Understanding the structure is half the preparation. Every section below is drilled separately in class, then assembled under full test conditions each week.

Score Requirements

What score do you need?

Set your target from the programs you actually want, not from an arbitrary number. These are the thresholds that change what is available to you.

80–90

Accepted by many public universities and pathway programs.

90–100

The common range for competitive undergraduate and master programs.

100–110

Top-tier universities, funded graduate programs and assistantships.

110+

The most selective institutions and scholarship shortlists.

Our Course

Diagnose,
drill, retest.

Nobody improves from lectures alone. Every TOEFL batch runs the same five-stage loop, and you see your own score curve at each stage.

01

Free diagnostic test

A full-length paper before you enrol, marked section by section, so we know exactly where the marks are leaking.

02

Concept classes in small batches

Maximum twelve students. Strategy and content taught in sequence, with every session building on the last.

03

Daily drills with feedback

Homework is checked and returned the next day. Written work comes back annotated, not just scored.

04

Weekly timed mock tests

Real conditions, real clock, and a score breakdown that shows movement week by week.

05

Target review before booking

We advise booking the real exam only once your mock average sits at or above your target for two consecutive weeks.

Section Strategy

Where the marks are.

Four things our instructors correct in almost every student. None of them require more English — they require a different approach to the test.

Note-taking

TOEFL is a note-taking test disguised as an English test. Build a personal shorthand and practise it daily — every integrated task depends on your notes, not your memory.

Speaking into a microphone

You speak to a recorder, not a person. Fifteen to thirty seconds of preparation, then structured delivery. Templates help, but robotic delivery costs marks.

Integrated Writing

The task is to report the relationship between the lecture and the reading — usually disagreement. Your own opinion earns nothing here.

Academic reading stamina

The passages are genuinely academic in density. Reading one journal-style article a day for a month is the highest-return preparation habit.

Should You Take It?

Is TOEFL the right
test for you?

Choose TOEFL if your target list is mainly American, particularly for graduate programs and assistantships where committees compare TOEFL scores by habit. Choose IELTS if your list spans Australia, Canada and the UK, or if you prefer a face-to-face Speaking test.

Not sure which test?

Sit one free diagnostic and we will tell you which exam gives you the best score for the time you have available — before you pay for any course.

Questions We Get

Honest answers.

Do American universities prefer TOEFL over IELTS?
Both are accepted almost everywhere in the US, but TOEFL is the score American committees read most fluently, and some departmental funding rules still reference TOEFL section minimums. If your list is US-heavy, TOEFL is the safer choice.
Can I take TOEFL at home?
TOEFL iBT Home Edition is available where the technical requirements are met, and it is accepted by most institutions. Requirements on room setup and equipment are strict — we walk you through them before you book.
What is a good TOEFL score for funded graduate admission?
Aim for 100 or above with at least 22 in Speaking. Teaching assistantships in particular have Speaking minimums, and that section is where South Asian applicants most often fall short of the threshold.
How is TOEFL scored across sections?
Each of the four sections is scored out of 30 for a total of 120. Many programs set both an overall minimum and section minimums, so a lopsided profile can fail even with a good total. We track sections separately in every mock.
